HOSPITAL REGIONAL EXERCISES - DECONTAMINATION SCENARIO

As area hospitals work together in planning disaster response, the need for regional responses is evident.

The Center for Biopreparedness Education teams with Nebraska hospitals and Medical Response System groups to present regional exercises focused on decontamination for hospital workers. Participating hospitals benefit from practicing with hospitals on which they may depend during an actual disaster. An invitation to participate is also extended to hospitals along the border in neighboring states.

In addition, the exercise will:

  • help hospitals meet funding and/or accreditation exercise requirements
  • provide participants the opportunity to practice using Personal Protective Equipment
  • provide participants the opportunity to practice setting up decontamination tents including running water and electricity to the units
  • provide participants the opportunity to work with live “victims” represented by community
    volunteers

Length:  3 1/2 hours

Fee:  These exercises are offered at no cost through grant funding.
